About Us
Vermillion Apartments is a website started and managed by business students from The University of South Dakota. It was started as a way to improve the process of posting properties and searching for them. Vermillion Apartments allows landlords to post their openings with a thorough description and pictures. The community and students at The University of South Dakota can easily search for housing and information about each property.Students Get Hands On Experience
Vermillion Apartments also provides students at USD with hands-on experience in the real world of business. Students will be managing the site and working with the landlords and advertisers to make it a success. Vermillion Apartments is a subsidy of Enterprise Wide Learning (EWL). EWL is a nonprofit business started for the sole purpose of providing students with real world business experience. All proceeds from Vermillion Apartments will be used to fund this project or other EWL projects. Other projects EWL funds for students at this time include:Coyote Gear
U. Coyote Gear sells USD merchandise at USD sporting events and also works with stores and vendors across South Dakota.Misfortune Cookies
The Misfortune Cookie project is a way to bring some clean humor to the fortune cookie sector. With over 100 possible ill-fated, but entertaining messages, they are sure to add a touch of lightheartedness to restaurants, bars, parties, or even to the home or office. This is a new EWL venture.U. Advertising
U. Advertising is a business governed by EWL that allows students to apply the skills they learn in the classroom by selling advertisements in the University Schedule Books and The Business Research Bureau’s quarterly produced journal, The South Dakota Business Review. Students participate in every aspect of the selling process including logo design, face to face selling to local businesses, and the overall business management process.Risky Business
Risky Business was a board game designed several years ago by SIFE. The game is a spin off of the classic Parker Brothers game RISK. The game Risky Business uses market economics to teach students real life business practices. The project has moved to an EWL business which we will publish on an internet server for students to play all across the world. The new version of the game takes aspects of the original Risky Business and creates a much more in-depth gaming experience. The first prototype of the online game is expected by summer of 2009.The business students at The University of South Dakota would like to thank you for your support in making these projects successful.
